Adaptive Foveated Ray Tracing Based on Time-Constrained Rendering for Head-Mounted Display

چکیده

Ray tracing-based rendering creates by far more realistic images than the traditional rasterization-based rendering. However, it is still burdensome when implemented for a Head-Mounted Display (HMD) system that demands wide field of view and high display refresh rate. Furthermore, presenting high-quality on HMD screen, sufficient number ray sampling should be carried out per pixel to alleviate visually annoying spatial temporal aliases. In this paper, we extend recent selective foveated tracing technique Kim et al. [1], propose an improved real-time realizes effect classic Whitted-style system. particular, combining hardware-based acceleration time-constrained scheme, show fast possible well suited human visual systems.

Foveated Real-Time Ray Tracing for Head-Mounted Displays

Head-mounted displays with dense pixel arrays used for virtual reality applications require high frame rates and low latency rendering. This forms a challenging use case for any rendering approach. In addition to its ability of generating realistic images, ray tracing offers a number of distinct advantages, but has been held back mainly by its performance. In this paper, we present an approach ...

Head-Mounted Display Systems

Real-time three-dimensional (3D) interactive displays refer to display devices servo to the line of sight of a user, allowing not only free head motion, but also potentially and importantly full body mobility. Ideally, one could wish for such capability to exist without the need to wear any view-aided device. However, unless a display system could be created in space, anywhere and anytime, a si...

Head-Mounted Display Image Configurations

A scheme for organizing head-mounted displays based primarily on image configuration and secondarily on the display/optics and head-mounted sensor(s) is offered as a way to clarify design and human interface issues. These attributes are linked to field-of-view, image content and device applications. An argument is made for discarding confusing and outdated concepts. This organization of a diver...

Projection based Head Mounted Display with Eye-Tracking Capabilities

We propose a novel conceptual design for a Head-Mounted Projection Display (HMPD) with Eye-Tracking (ET) capabilities. We present a fully integrated system that is robust, easy to calibrate, inexpensive, and lightweight. The HMD-ET integration is performed from a low-level optical configuration in order to achieve a compact, comfortable, easy-to-use system. The idea behind the full integration ...
